Milan gets a makeover

Coming soon: the Human Technopole project, Galeazzi hospital, State Campus and a 650 thousand square meter park. Maran: “Hub of excellence and an important piece for Milan 2030”. Also on the list of innovations to come: for the Mind – Milano Innovation District project. The Administration approved the Integrated Intervention Plan relating to the area used for the 2015 Universal Exposition presented by Arexpo Spa.

The Plan will help establish three important public functions in Milan, mainly north of the Decumano: the new IRCCS Galeazzi hospital, the research center for Technopole’s Science of Human Life and the State University campus

These structures will be developed within a large 650,000 square meter Scientific and Technological Theme Park, over half of the entire surface of the area.

The new green lung will unfold along the existing Cardo and Decumano with dedicated areas for sports, water and food, in continuity with the Cascina Merlata and Farini parks. There will also be a stop on the Circle Line, in addition to the one already planned at Stephenson, under the Railway Stops Program Agreement.

“Mind represents a new excellence at an international level and an important piece for Milan 2030 – declares the Councilor for Urban Planning Pierfrancesco Maran – On the one hand, it will bring a scientific research and meeting center between the public and business systems, on the other a large park available to citizens, students, workers and researchers. Finally, it will help improve the efficiency of the city’s public transport, thanks to the construction of the Circle Line stop.”

In addition to the three large public functions that will be located on 317,000 square meters of gross floor area, the Plan allocates 90,000 square meters of land to the residential portion, 15,000 square meters to the hospitality portion, 30,250 square meters to production, 305,000 square meters to the tertiary and office sector, and 35,000 square meters of commercial space with neighborhood businesses and medium-sized sales structures.

The Implementing entity also plans on creating a share at least 30,000 square meters of social housing, including university residences.
